New 6-knot speed limit for 2 areas of Baffle Creek
The speed limit in the following two areas of Baffle Creek has changed to 6-knots.
- Area 1: around a 500m section of waterway adjacent to the public boat ramp located on Baffle Creek at Rocky Point Road, Winfield
- Area 2: around a 385m section of waterway adjacent to the public boat ramp located on the south bank of Baffle Creek at Winfield Road, Winfield.
This action is in response to complaints and reports of unsafe boating activities and on water behaviour, particularly speeding vessels and excess vessel wash. Unsafe practices such as these create additional dangers to other waterway users.
The measure received overwhelming support following our consultation with the local community in July and August 2025.
The notice introducing the 6-knot speed limit was published in the Queensland Government Gazette (p.169) on 3 October 2025. This notice has been superseded for clarity by the notice published on 14 November 2025 (page 397).
