COVID-19—information for the Queensland maritime industry

Management of COVID-19 on board ships

Guidelines for the management of COVID-19 on board vessels in Queensland and class exemption (PDF, 398KB) have been developed by Queensland Health and Maritime Safety Queensland.

This guideline aims to:

  • protect the health and welfare of international maritime crew
  • ensure continuity of shipping and trade
  • reduce the risk of transmission to Queensland port personnel.

Each vessel is managed on a case-by-case basis. Management of COVID-19 on ships may differ to this guideline, depending on the circumstances.

Each vessel's entry from overseas and operation in Queensland ports is subject to a Biosecurity Officer granting positive pratique and any conditions that may apply.
