The Balgal Beach, Marlin Street boat ramp repair project is part of this commitment, restoring safe and reliable access for the local boating community following flood damage sustained in 2025.
Project overview
We are leading the delivery of repairs to the Balgal Beach, Marlin Street boat ramp, ensuring high-quality marine infrastructure that meets community and industry needs.L
Supporting industry and the local community, this project will restore full functionality of the facility, improve marine safety and strengthen the ramp's resilience to future high-flow events.
Project features
The repaired boat ramp will restore safe and reliable access while improving the facility's structural integrity, durability and long-term performance.
Scope of works
The repair works will include:
- replacement of damaged pre-cast concrete planks
- reconstruction of the lower ramp sections
- strengthening of the ramp foundation
- installation of an integrated rock bag and grout mattress shoulder to improve durability and resist scour during high-flow events.
Timing of works – effective mid-August 2026
- Mid-August 2026: Contractor to establish onsite and commence works.
- October 2026: Works completion, weather and site conditions permitting.
Access during construction
For public safety and contractor efficiency, the facility will be fully closed during construction.
An alternative launching facility will remain available at the Toomulla boat ramp, located approximately 16 kilometres (around 15 minutes) from the worksite.
Boaties are advised to take extra caution around the site, both landside and in-water, and follow all contractor instructions and temporary signage.
