Beachmere – Saint Smith Drive boat ramp upgrade
Introduction
Maritime Safety Queensland is committed to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality boating infrastructure for Queensland communities. The downstream Saint Smith Drive boat ramp upgrade at Beachmere is part of this commitment, improving safety, access, and usability for boaties while supporting local tourism and recreational opportunities along the Caboolture River.
Project overview
We are leading the delivery of the Saint Smith Drive boat ramp upgrade, ensuring high-quality marine infrastructure that meets community and industry needs.
Supporting industry and the local Beachmere community, this project will enhance marine safety, improve access to the Caboolture River and Deception Bay, and cater to the growing demand for boating in the region.
Project features
The resurfaced ramp will improve launching and retrieval efficiency and help balance usage between the two Beachmere ramps.
Scope of works
The upgrade works will include:
- resurfacing the boat ramp
- altering the ramp slope to improve usability
- bringing the facility in line with current Department of Transport and Main Roads standards
Timing of works – effective early February 2026
- Early February 2026: Contractor to establish onsite and commence works
- Mid-March 2026: Works completion, weather and conditions permitting.
Access during construction
For public safety and contractor efficiency, the downstream Saint Smith Drive boat ramp will be fully closed during construction.
An alternative launching facility will remain available at the upstream Beachmere boat ramp, located approximately 50 metres from the worksite.
Boaties are advised to take extra caution around the site—both landside and in-water—and follow all contractor instructions and temporary signage.
