Extreme weather contingency plans

Extreme weather events like tropical cyclones, flooding and dangerous storm conditions can pose significant risks to both people and vessels. Tropical cyclones off the Queensland coast can have more unpredictable paths than in other parts of the world and can last from a few days up to several weeks.

The Extreme Weather Event Contingency Plan tells you what to do if an extreme weather warning (cyclones, flooding, storms) is posted and how to respond to the different warning and/or alert levels. The plan consists of an overarching document containing critical information which applies to all areas, as well as a port or area specific appendix containing local information.

Port specific extreme weather event (EWE) contingency plans

The port specific plans must be read with the completed Extreme Weather Event Contingency Plan 2024-2025, which outlines the emergency management concepts. All our contingency plans incorporate the Australian Warning System signage and phasing for consistency with other agencies and states.
