Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study 2022

The Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study 2022 was completed on 10 May 2023.

The aim of the study is to provide a solid basis to guide investment of funding for recreational boating facilities over the next 5 to 10 years.

The Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study 2022 reflects on how we can address the demand through:

  • community consultation
  • agency engagement
  • gathering data through field work across regions and local government areas.

This study is one tool used by delivery agencies to help select and prioritise sites for development based on current and future demand for facilities. Delivery agencies include:

  • port authorities
  • local government and shire councils
  • Gold Coast Waterways Authority
  • Maritime Safety Queensland (Department of Transport and Main Roads branch)

It is up to the agency to review these suggestions and take into account other criteria to make an informed decision on how the established and future demand might be address. Criteria the delivery agencies take into account can be found within:

The recommendations are only suggestions and are not binding in any way.
