Rocky Point Road Boat Ramp (Winfield) business case development
Maritime Safety Queensland is developing a business case to investigate potential upgrade options for the Rocky Point Road Boat Ramp in Winfield. The business case will focus on addressing some of the challenges boaties face when using the existing ramp and improving safety, usability and access for recreational boaters.
We are committed to improving boating infrastructure to support Winfield's close-knit community and the recreational boaties who rely on the Rocky Point Road Boat Ramp. This business case aims to identify solutions that will deliver a safer, more accessible, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Why we're seeking your feedback
Community feedback will help inform the business case by developing concept design options that reflect the needs and preferences of local boaties and how the facility is used. This consultation provides an opportunity for the community to review the design options and share their views before recommendations are finalised.
Any recommendations from the business case will be considered as part of future planning and investment decisions.
Phase 1: Community consultation (Completed late 2025)
We met with the local community in late 2025 to better understand how the boating community use the boat ramp, what works well, key issues experienced at the site, and get your ideas for improving it within the investigation area.
Community members shared valuable feedback about ramp usability, safety, tidal access and ideals for potential improvements. This feedback has helped inform the development of three proposed concept design options, which will now be shared with the community for further input.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and ideas.
Phase 2: Have your say on the proposed design options (closes 12 April 2026)
We are now inviting the community to provide feedback on 3 proposed concept design options for potential upgrades to the Rocky Point Road Boat Ramp.
These options were developed using feedback received during Phase 1 consultation in late 2025.
Community feedback during this stage will help us understand which option works best for local users and refine the final recommendations for the business case.
