Boating infrastructure

Maritime Safety Queensland provides boaties with access to Queensland waterways by delivering recreational boating infrastructure for Queenslanders in conjunction with local government, port authorities and private developers.

The Boating Infrastructure and Waterways Management Branch has responsibility for:

  • managing eight of the 11 state boat harbours throughout Queensland
  • building new and improved recreational boating facilities
  • maintaining existing infrastructure
  • providing policy, planning and strategic direction for recreational boating infrastructure.

Boating facilities
A list of boat launching ramps, jetties and pontoon facilities throughout Queensland.

Boating Infrastructure Capital and Maintenance Program
Maritime Safety Queensland manages the Boating Infrastrucure Capital and Maintenence Program which is a three-year rolling program of works for recreational boating infrastructure and related services.

Dredging initiatives
Dredging is an excavation activity that deepens and widens harbours and waterway channels. Dredging maintains navigable access in waterways for recreational and commercial boat users.

Recreational boating infrastructure projects
A list of recently-completed and current recreational boating infrastructure projects undertaken in Queensland. Maritime Safety Queensland owns and manages public boating facilities across Queensland, working in partnership with local government and port authorities to deliver infrastructure improvements for recreational vessel operators.

Bid proposal process
Bid proposals can be submitted for new recreational boating facilities projects. Successful bids are included in a three-year rolling program of works.

State boat harbours
There are 11 government-owned state boat harbours in Queensland which were developed to promote small-craft activities and support marine-related industries along the Queensland coast.
