Port of Cape Flattery

Located 47kms north of Cooktown, the port of Cape Flattery was set up to only export silica sand from the Cape Flattery Silica Mines Pty Ltd. Owned by the Mitsubishi Corporation, the mine is the largest exporter of silica sand in the world.

The port has a single berth serviced by a travelling ship loader for the export of sand.

Port of Cooktown

The port of Cooktown is located 169kms north of Cairns. The port is managed by Far North Queensland Ports Corporation and is mainly used by fishing vessels, small passenger vessels and recreational craft.

Port of Port Douglas

Located 56kms north of Cairns, the Port of Port Douglas is a small natural harbour behind Island Point, within the border of Dickson Inlet.

The port has many fishing wharves, 2 marina's and is able to provide refuge for anchored or moored vessels upstream. Fishing boats, recreational boats and tourist vessels that visit the islands and Great Barrier Reef mainly use this port.
