- Commercial and fishing ship marine licences
Commercial and fishing ships are those used in conjunction with any type of business, trade or commerce. They can include fishing ships, tourist or charter boats, work boats, ferries, water taxis, dive boats and sailing school boats. There are various marine licences that can be obtained through Maritime Safety Queensland. - Recreational boat licences
Recreational boats are those used for recreation purposes and are not for any type of business, trade or commerce. A licence is required to operate any recreational boat which is powered by an engine power greater than 4.5 kW (over 6HP). - Personal watercraft licences
A personal watercraft (PWC) licence will be required to operate a personal watercraft. - How to become a BoatSafe Training Provider
BoatSafe is a competency-based training and assessment scheme modelled on national guidelines for the safe operation of recreational boats. The scheme is designed to increase the rigor of training and assessment processes that lead to a recreational marine driver licence and personal watercraft licence. The BoatSafe initiative is aimed at improving the safety awareness, attitudes and competence of all future recreational boat licence holders in Queensland.
