Chart revision
Boating safety chart Gladstone Harbour (code CC1) edition two was released in March 2009. New editions of charts for the Great Sandy Straits will be released by the end of 2009.

Use of correct datum when plotting positions on boating safety charts
All current boating safety charts are published with latitudes and longitudes on GDA94 horizontal datum. This datum is compatible with WGS84. To plot positions from your GPS receiver accurately on a boating safety chart, you must ensure that the datum of your GPS receiver is set to either WGS84 or GDA94.

On some older GPS receivers, it is possible to choose a datum called Australian. Depending on the type of your GPS receiver, the Australian datum may refer to different datum settings such as GDA94, AGD84 or AGD66. You should make sure that you use GDA94 or WGS84 when using current editions of boating safety charts. If you use older datum settings to plot coordinates on boating safety charts, you could be up to 200 metres out of position. Please check your GPS manual or ask your GPS dealer.

Keeping your charts up to date
All boating safety charts are current for the information available at the date of publication. Changes that affect navigation can take place at any time and are generally advised in Notices to Mariners. For your safety, between chart revisions, it is essential that you update your chart from the Notices to Mariners web pages on this site. The last Notice to Mariners number used in revising that chart is printed on each current chart.
