Marine Board

What is the Marine Board?
The Marine Board is a group of industry experts set up to advise the Minister for Transport and Maritime Safety Queensland on significant issues affecting the marine industry in Queensland. The board was established in 1996 under the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994 and replaced the Marine Industry Advisory Council.

Who is on the Marine Board?
There are six members of the Marine Board. Each member brings with them years of experience working with and in the marine industry. The members come from a broad cross-section of the trade, commercial and recreational boating sectors. Members do not represent particular bodies or companies.

What do they do?
The Marine Board meets regularly to discuss significant maritime issues facing both government and the industry. It offers advice to government from an industry perspective on:  How can it help me?
The Marine Board represents the marine industry. It regularly meets with industry to talk about challenges, advise on how to progress new initiatives, and can often act as a conduit to government. The Marine Board convenes Marine Industry Forums across the state. These forums are a great opportunity for local industry to get together and share ideas and experiences. Check the schedule of marine industry forums to see when the Marine Board is next going to be in your area.
