Gladstone Marine Construction – Safety Forum

About 90 marine industry representatives attended an open forum hosted by Maritime Safety Queensland in Gladstone on Thursday 13 October 2011.

The forum was part of Maritime Safety Queensland’s program of ensuring we achieve the best safety outcomes during marine construction projects in and around Gladstone Harbour.

“Maritime Safety Queensland is committed to a program of industry discussion and consultation to ensure ongoing improvements to operational safety during the project,” Maritime Safety Queensland General Manager Patrick Quirk said.

Presenters were drawn from both the maritime safety and workplace safety agencies and the discussions were specifically targeted on the Gladstone construction projects.

The forum, held at the Central Queensland University, Gladstone Marina was viewed by Maritime Safety Queensland as essential to those involved in the marine construction projects including owners, contractors, masters, engineers, crews, superintendents, terminal staff and transport coordinators.
